Crystal Rabbit
delicate hopping
spangles of lush blades brush by
shimmering sun refracting through the diamond surface
reflecting rainbows
across the field
bringing beauty to broken souls.
living for the moment it can fix, heal, and help
a wounded human.
sweet serenity,
peaceful thoughts
brought on by catching a glimpse.
those lucky enough to be a broken soul,
has the chance to trap it,
extort the beauty, codependency, and naivety
this unique creature carries within
just wanting to relieve pain,
spare of sorrow,
protect from trauma.
catch me and my love will help you
caught.
false light
forces crystallized eyes open
trapped in an unwanted place
caged.
the troubled human circles
tapping on the bars,
shining direct light
and momentarily
the rabbit shines,
doing its best to help.
but no longer does it shimmer
no longer does it roam free
it is now subjugated to provide relieve.
watchful, hungry eyes crave solace
demanding the beautiful creature to give
what it no longer has.
hands reach through grasping frantically
but it cowers, wanting to escape
enclosed empathy.
small dreary eyes squint
as brighter lights shine,
showing dullness procured over time.
cage picked up,
momentary thoughts of freedom arise
until shaken, jostled, manhandled
leaving the poor thing
shattered
beyond repair
